Baby Babble: Ultrasound (31 Weeks)
My midwife, Mary, ordered a second ultrasound since the first one indicated that my placenta was low lying. After a bit of online research, I learned that a low lying placenta (aka Placenta Praevia) could obstruct the birth canal and warrants a C-section delivery. Good thing this ultrasound showed that it had, indeed, moved up to where it should be. It also showed that Missy Miss is no longer in a breach position. Of course, that could change many times over the next two months. But I’ve definitely been feeling pressure where I’m assuming her head is now. I blame the 2 mile walk we did as a family after Thanksgiving dinner. It was a great walk! And we got to see an outdoor concert with Josh Turner (love “Will You Go With Me”) and Mandissa as well as the lighting of the Macy’s tree in Buckhead, Georgia. However, the random exercise definitely affected my baby-carrying body!
In any event, all is good! Here are a few pictures from the ultrasound:

If you turn your head to the right, you can see her looking right at you! The dark areas in the middle are her eyes and mouth.

Her side profile and a hand…going in for the thumb, Missy Miss? Apparently, when I was a baby, I decided to forgo the traditional thumb and instead sucked my pointer and pinky together. I hope she’s quirky like that. :)

Oh, she is just so stinkin’ cute.
i’ve been staring at your pictures for sometime now trying to see her. i even tilted my head like you suggested!
Leigh Anne – it is a little hard to make out. For the first one, there are two dark spots – one above the other – those are her eyes and her mouth is the left (another dark spot). The white spots in between are her cheeks. So, when you tilt your head to the right, you’ll see the face looking at your straight on. Then in the second one, the whitest part of the image is her forehead and if you follow that line to the left, you’ll see the nose and mouth. See her now?
Heather sweetheart, you sucked your middle and ring finger. So, your thumb, pointer and pinky were outside your mouth. The way you have described it is virtually impossible to do comfortably…try it!
Love you,
Mom
Haha…well, I knew it was a unique combination of some sort…
