Analiese: 3 Weeks

Our little one is three weeks old today! She’s definitely growing, too. Looking back at some of our earlier posts and pictures of her, it’s crazy to see how much she’s already changed. She’s begun to fill out her face a little, but it’s still hard for us to decide who she looks like. We see a little of each of us…makes sense, right?

There are so many things we love about Analiese. From day one, she’s had what we’ve called an “active tongue”. The girl loves to suck on our pinky fingers and is constantly making different facial expressions. She’s begun to “coo” here and there – it’s fun to hear her make sounds and imagine what her voice will sound like. She has the most beautiful blue eyes – we love to look at them and try to figure out what she sees at this point. She has super long fingers and toes – a future piano player? I hope so!

Along with the many joys of our sweet little blessing, there are definitely challenges. I’m not one to make it seem like everything is perfect when it’s not. I tend to wear my heart and emotions on my sleeve and most people can tell when something is wrong. I don’t keep things bottled up inside and in most cases, seek advice of others and wisdom from God. I’ve taken the same approach with being a new mom. I feel like I have such a great village of resources and appreciate all of the honesty and truth others have shared with me. We’re still learning and will be for a long time. (For instance, I’ve learned that Analiese takes a few minutes to stretch when she wakes up…and THEN poops. Therefore, it’s usually not the best idea to change her diaper immediately after she wakes up. Otherwise, I may find myself cleaning up the poop she shot across her dresser while she had no diaper on…)
